Treatment Basics

The mainstay of hemophilia treatment is factor replacement therapy, in which the missing clotting factor is given to the patient. The clotting factor (called factor) is administered via infusion (through a vein). Other types of treatment, such as simple first-aid measures or other pharmaceutical products, are sometimes used to help manage hemophilia and other bleeding disorders as well.
